mama digs: Ruby Jane’s Birth Story

It’s a new year and a big life change for me: now a mama of two, I am not returning to my job as the Missoula Art Museum’s Development and Membership Director (but I am a member and you should be too! I’ll never stop advocating for that amazing organization). I’ll be at home with my girls and working on some projects that will unfold right here on dig…

Right now, Andy just left for work in the dark dark morning and as I type, Ruby is nursing and my screen is split so Margot can watch youtube videos of the abc’s. It’s a whole different world of distractions and beauty. Here we go.

I am really excited to announce that, starting today, I have a weekly column on mamalode called mama digs! (Oh and this reminds me that my essay in the recent print magazine, In Pursuit of Life, is now online as well. Pages 40-43.)

My first mama digs column is Ruby’s birth story. My cousin who is more like my sister, Elise, remarked that, really, Ruby has two births: November 23 and December 15. True.
